Philippine Media The Hostage Culprit!

One of the greatest contributor that led the hostage taking into failure is the Philippine Media. Admit it.

They are just performing their job in covering the hostage taking, and yes they commit one of the greatest mistake in handling the situation.

One of the guidelines in handling a hostage taking is this:

“always assume that the hostage taker, gunman or terrorist has access to the reporting. Avoid describing with words or showing with still photography and video any information that could divulge the tactics or positions of SWAT members. Fight the urge to become a player in any standoff . . . ." (excerpt from Bob Steele's Guidelines in handling hostage crisis, prison uprisings, terrorist action for the media)

There, did you read it clearly. As I can remember, the Philippine Media has divulged all necessary information that the hostage taker needs to know, every position of the Police and the SWAT, all.

Like What Venus Raj said: "its major major mistake" that media of today had done. We may shut our mouth and pretend that all blame is on the police, the SWAT (incompetent SWAT) , and the hostage taker. But you and I and everyone who breath life, knows that media also plays a vital role in covering the hostage crisis, but aren't it right to tell them that they had committed their greatest mistake in history?
